At an informal EU summit in Ayia Napa, Cyprus, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis reaffirmed Europe’s commitment to Ukraine, declaring that “Europe has stood by Ukraine since the beginning of this war.” He welcomed the unlocking of new financial resources for Kyiv, calling it “an important step in the right direction” and stressing that the funds are essential to ensure Ukraine can “continue to function as a state and defend itself.” The summit comes as European leaders seek to project unity heading into what many expect will be a decisive phase of the conflict.
