Gunfight Erupts Near Israeli Consulate in Istanbul

In a dramatic incident on Tuesday, a firefight broke out between Turkish police and several armed assailants near the Israeli consulate in Istanbul. According to RT and Stuff, police teams were dispatched to the area at around 12:15 PM local time. One attacker carrying what appeared to be an assault rifle was killed, and two others were captured after being wounded. Two police officers were also injured in the exchange.

The consulate has been closed for months and was reportedly unstaffed at the time, making it unclear whether it was the intended target. Video from the scene showed an assailant wearing a brown backpack, hiding behind a bus while exchanging fire with police. The attack underscores the intensifying security risks across the region as the wider Middle East conflict radiates outward.
