Daniel Kinahan Arrested in Dubai

In a breakthrough for international law enforcement, Daniel Kinahan — the Irish national long alleged to be at the center of a vast organized crime network — was arrested in Dubai. The approximately 40-year-old fugitive was detained by Dubai police based on a warrant issued by Irish courts in connection with “serious organized crime offences.”

Dubai police announced the arrest of an “Irish fugitive for his alleged role in an international organized crime network,” while Irish police confirmed they were aware of the detention of an Irish national in the United Arab Emirates. Kinahan now faces the prospect of extradition to Ireland. The arrest marks a significant moment in a years-long effort to bring Kinahan to justice; the Kinahan cartel has been linked to drug trafficking, murder, and money laundering across multiple continents.
