Easter 2026 is not without its disruptions across Europe.
In Germany, supermarkets are struggling with egg shortages just as demand peaks for the holiday. White eggs, traditionally favored for dyeing, are especially scarce. The shortfall isn’t solely due to the ongoing avian influenza crisis — broader supply chain pressures are also at play, making last-minute Easter shopping a fraught experience.
In Norway, traffic authorities are issuing blunt warnings to travelers: don’t drive home on Easter Sunday. Road traffic command centers across southern Norway are aligned in their advice, and emergency meetings are being convened in several counties for Saturday to coordinate a response to anticipated holiday gridlock.
And in Greece, the weather forecast offers a mixed blessing for Orthodox Holy Week. Mild instability is expected over the weekend, with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms on Saturday. But from Palm Sunday onward, conditions should improve steadily, with sunshine and rising temperatures creating a more spring-like setting through mid-Holy Week.
