Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a high-level meeting in Quetta following what he described as “very serious incidents” over four days that left policemen, soldiers, and civilians dead. Field Marshal Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff, was also present at the Provincial Apex Committee meeting on the National Action Plan to counter terrorism. The PM noted that 54 terrorists had been killed in response operations and vowed that the war against terrorism would “continue until the last terrorist” is eliminated. The escalation in Balochistan marks one of the province’s most intense periods of violence in recent years.
