Italian energy giant Eni announced a massive natural gas discovery at the Geliga-1 exploratory well in the Ganal block of the Kutei Basin, off the coast of Indonesia. Preliminary estimates put the find at approximately 5 trillion cubic feet of natural gas and 300 million barrels of condensate.
The well was drilled to a depth of about 5,100 meters in a water column of 2,000 meters, roughly 70 kilometers from the coast of East Kalimantan province. The discovery could pave the way for a third production hub in one of Indonesia’s most productive offshore basins, reinforcing Eni’s successful track record in deep-water exploration across Southeast Asia.
