A Legionnaires’ disease outbreak that has sickened dozens of people in New York City claimed its first fatality, health officials confirmed on Friday. According to The Guardian, officials have not released additional information about the deceased person’s identity, age, or the circumstances of their illness. The outbreak adds another layer of public health concern to a city already dealing with hazardous air quality from Canadian wildfire smoke.
