The country has introduced new rules targeting both AI systems and social media platforms, positioning itself as a champion of what officials call “trustworthy AI.” Spanish authorities issued a pointed warning to those who have defended a hands-off regulatory approach: those who championed “the law of the jungle” will come to regret it.
The move comes as governments worldwide grapple with how to regulate rapidly evolving AI technologies — a subject also expected to feature prominently in the Trump-Xi discussions in Beijing.
