Israel Strikes Lebanon Despite New Framework Agreement

Israel conducted strikes in southern Lebanon on Sunday, despite a framework agreement to end hostilities signed in Washington just two days earlier. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun had told US President Donald Trump on June 27 that his country “would assume its responsibilities” in implementing the deal, which was reached after five rounds of negotiations.

Separately, in a historic diplomatic move, Israel’s government unanimously approved a decision to formally recognize the violence against Armenians during World War I as a genocide — a long-debated step with significant geopolitical implications.
