Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s political fortunes took another hit after a parliamentary vote on her proposed electoral reform did not go her way. “The swamp has won again,” Meloni commented, in a bitter acknowledgment of her inability to push through a key plank of her domestic agenda. The defeat is particularly stinging because it follows other recent legislative setbacks, raising questions about the durability of her governing coalition.
