Diplomatic Maneuvering Stalls at the UN

On the diplomatic front, Bahrain postponed a planned vote on a United Nations Security Council resolution aimed at ending Iran’s de facto control over the Strait of Hormuz, the critical chokepoint through which roughly a fifth of the world’s oil supply flows. Diplomats speaking anonymously said the vote would be rescheduled for sometime next week, though the reasons for the delay were not made public.

The Strait of Hormuz has been a flashpoint throughout the conflict, and any resolution addressing it would carry enormous implications for global energy markets and the war’s broader strategic picture.
