AI Is Already Reshaping Medicine — and Law — Around the World

Google’s AI ambitions are not the only sign of the technology’s rapid spread. In Australia, roughly 40 percent of general practitioners are already using AI tools to take notes during patient consultations, according to reports in The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age. Not all patients are comfortable with the idea, raising privacy and trust concerns that the medical profession will need to address.

Meanwhile, in Brazil, the lower house of Congress approved legislation that toughens penalties for sexual violence against children — and explicitly includes the use of artificial intelligence as an aggravating factor. Under the new bill, convicted offenders could face immediate consequences such as the loss of public office. The measure reflects growing global concern about AI-generated child sexual abuse material.
