Buildings Collapse in Istanbul After Gas Explosion

In Istanbul’s historic Fatih district, chaos erupted after two buildings collapsed in quick succession, apparently triggered by a natural gas explosion. Seven people were pulled from the rubble as firefighters, disaster management teams from AFAD, ambulances, and police converged on the scene. Witnesses said the sound of the collapse was heard from a considerable distance, and a thick cloud of dust engulfed the neighbourhood. Search and rescue operations were ongoing, with authorities unable to confirm whether more people remained trapped.
