China Sanctions Seven European Defence Firms Over Taiwan and Arms Sales

Beijing announced restrictions targeting seven European companies, citing weapons sales and what it termed “collusion” with Taiwan. The move represents the latest escalation in a tit-for-tat dynamic between China and the European Union, which has itself been tightening scrutiny of Chinese economic practices. Among the firms affected is FN Herstal, the Belgian arms manufacturer. The sanctions serve as a pointed warning to European governments deepening defence ties with Taipei.
