Hamas Confirms Death of Military Chief After Israeli Strike

Hamas confirmed on Saturday that Ezzedine Al-Haddad, the chief of its armed wing, was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza City the previous day. The Israeli Defense Forces and the Shin Bet domestic security agency said the strike was “precise” and targeted Haddad specifically.

The killing represents another significant blow in Israel’s extensive campaign to eliminate Hamas’s senior political and military leadership — both inside Gaza and across the wider region. Two Hamas officials separately confirmed Al-Haddad’s death to AFP. While the loss of a top military commander is significant, the broader question of what this means for any future ceasefire negotiations — or for Hamas’s operational capacity — remains unclear.
