Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is set to visit Germany from April 21 with a blockbuster submarine deal high on the agenda. German defence giant Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems is close to finalising a contract estimated at over $8 billion. The submarines would be built primarily in India by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited in Mumbai, in collaboration with TKMS — a major step in India’s push for domestic defence manufacturing.
