Trump Escalates Iran Rhetoric — Even in Front of Children

The US-Iran war, dubbed “Epic Fury” by the Trump administration, took several alarming turns this week. President Donald Trump issued stark warnings on his Truth Social platform: if Iran does not comply with agreed terms, “the bombings will begin, which unfortunately will be much more intense and powerful than before.” He dangled the prospect of reopening the Strait of Hormuz — a critical global shipping chokepoint — but only if Tehran cooperates.

Perhaps more controversially, Trump made headlines for remarks delivered in the presence of schoolchildren at the White House. During an event meant to announce the return of the Presidential Physical Fitness Test Award, the president veered off-topic, telling the children gathered in the Oval Office that Iran had been “two weeks away” from killing them. The comments drew fierce criticism, as observers questioned the appropriateness of exposing minors to such graphic war rhetoric.

Meanwhile, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, speaking at the 5th Greece–Cyprus–Jordan Summit in Amman, called for the restoration of the “previous status quo” in the Strait of Hormuz. Mitsotakis emphasized that the crisis creates serious challenges for regional peace and security, as well as significant economic consequences affecting all nations. The trilateral meeting sought to send “a clear message of friendship, cooperation, and unwavering commitment to international law.”
