Counter-Terror Police Investigate Anti-Muslim Attacks in Edinburgh

In Scotland, counter-terrorism officers launched an investigation into several “violent attacks” on Friday evening in Edinburgh that injured five men in what police are treating as suspected anti-Muslim incidents. A 36-year-old white Scottish man was arrested, and footage circulated online showing a bare-chested man roaming the streets of the Scottish capital with a large weapon.

Police Scotland said there was no further threat to the public but confirmed that Counter Terrorism Policing Scotland was leading the investigation, supported by specialist colleagues. The incidents have prompted renewed concern about anti-Muslim violence in the UK.
