Artemis II: Humans Head for the Moon Again

For the first time in more than half a century, human beings are on their way to the moon. NASA’s Artemis II mission launched from Florida on April 1, sending four astronauts on a high-stakes, 10-day journey around the lunar surface. The mission represents America’s boldest step yet toward returning humans to the moon and builds on the uncrewed Artemis I mission that preceded it.

The launch was widely covered across international outlets, a reminder that even in a time of war and geopolitical fracture, the shared ambition of space exploration retains its power to captivate. If the mission succeeds, it paves the way for Artemis III — which aims to actually land astronauts on the lunar surface for the first time since Apollo 17 in 1972.
