Australia: Union Probe Resumes, Solicitor Charged in Fraud Ring

Public hearings have resumed in Queensland as part of an ongoing probe into the Construction, Forestry and Maritime Employees Union (CFMEU) and worksite misconduct, with the investigation now expanding to infrastructure projects. The hearings are examining allegations of systemic corruption and intimidation within one of Australia’s most powerful unions.

Separately, Financial Crimes Squad detectives in New South Wales have charged a solicitor for their alleged role in a multi-million-dollar fraud and money laundering syndicate, as part of an operation known as Strike Force Myddleton.
