In Central America, Costa Rica’s newly inaugurated President Laura Fernández attended a Mass at the Basilica of Our Lady of the Angels the day after formally assuming office. Accompanied by her husband Jeffrey Umaña and members of her cabinet, Fernández participated in the religious ceremony as part of the official activities marking the start of her government. Vice President Francisco Gamboa told reporters he had prayed to the Virgin for guidance as the new administration takes the reins.
