The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and PML-N are the main contenders for the chief minister’s role, but the PPP accused the federal government of trying to influence results and alleged that official results forms (Form-45) were not being issued. PTI, lacking its electoral symbol, allied with the MWM party in the race.
