In a significant step for victims’ rights, France’s National Assembly adopted a bill requiring the justice system to inform survivors of sexual violence when their attacker is released from prison. The legislation, championed by Renaissance deputy Laure Miller, addresses a long-standing complaint from victims’ advocates that survivors are too often blindsided by their aggressor’s release, leaving them feeling unsafe and unsupported.
