Israel Seizes Gaza Aid Flotilla, Abducts Greek Activists

The most dramatic confrontation of the day unfolded at sea. Israeli forces intercepted the Global Sumud Flotilla — an international aid convoy headed for Gaza — for the second time, abducting at least nine Greek activists who were on board.

Greece’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded swiftly, filing a formal diplomatic protest with Israel demanding assurances about the safety of its citizens. In Athens, a protest rally was convened in the city center, while opposition parties sharply criticized the Israeli operation and demanded the immediate release of those detained. The seizure echoed the controversial 2010 Mavi Marmara incident and threatens to strain relations between Israel and allied nations whose citizens were on board.
