In a lighter but politically significant moment, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and former President Barack Obama led a preschool singalong in the Bronx to promote the mayor’s push to expand free child care for 2-year-olds. The unusual photo-op — two political figures of very different generations joining toddlers in song — was designed to build public support for a policy initiative that Mamdani has made a centrepiece of his administration.
