Despite the grim headlines, financial markets found reason for optimism. Wall Street recorded its best trading session of the year, buoyed by speculation that the conflict could be approaching its end — driven in part by Trump’s own comments about leaving Iran “very soon.” The Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) followed suit, jumping at the open. Investors appeared to be betting that a ceasefire, however fragile, could be on the horizon, which would ease pressure on global energy supplies and shipping routes.
