Ryanair Passenger Nearly Sucked Out After Window Ruptures Mid-Flight

A Serbian woman is being hailed as a hero after she physically held onto her husband to prevent him from being expelled from a Ryanair aircraft when the window next to his seat shattered mid-flight on July 10.

Ljubiša Karović was partially pulled out of the plane during a flight from Thessaloniki, Greece, to Memmingen, Germany. His wife, Svetlana Grković, grabbed his legs and held on while fellow passengers rushed to help. Speaking to Serbian outlet Nova, Grković said she acted on instinct: “I thought if we were both going to die, we would die together.” She reported that a piece of the engine appeared to have broken off and struck the window. The aircraft landed safely, but the incident has raised new questions about in-flight safety protocols.
