Spain drew 1-1 with Iraq in La Coruña in their first warm-up match ahead of the 2026 World Cup. Ferran Torres opened the scoring in the 16th minute, but Merchas Doski equalized for Iraq just 11 minutes later. Spanish manager Luis de la Fuente had left out up to ten regular players — including the injured Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams — describing the match as a day for “sensations and giving opportunities to other players.” It was a grey result, but one the coach seemed prepared to accept given the experimental lineup.
