Suicide Attack Foiled in Pakistan’s South Waziristan

In Pakistan’s restive South Waziristan district, security forces thwarted an attempted suicide attack on a military checkpoint near Azam Warsak Bazaar on Monday evening. The attacker tried to drive an explosives-laden vehicle into the army post, but Pakistan Army personnel destroyed the vehicle before it reached its target.

The blast still caused significant collateral damage, destroying a nearby religious seminary, a petrol pump, shops, and partially collapsing the roofs of several houses. One civilian was killed and 15 others were injured, all of whom were transported to the District Headquarters Hospital in Wana.
