The Indian film world lost K. Bhagyaraj, an iconic Tamil filmmaker and actor, who passed away at the age of 73. Bhagyaraj was known for his innovative storytelling and for bridging South and North Indian cinema — directing Hindi remakes of his own Tamil hits and working alongside Bollywood giants Amitabh Bachchan and Anil Kapoor. His 1990 film Avasara Police 100 famously reimagined a forgotten MGR movie, turning it into a commercial hit and cementing his reputation as a filmmaker who could mine gold from cinema history.
