In a separate French tragedy, a small civilian aircraft carrying a group of skydivers crashed shortly after takeoff in Tomblaine, near Nancy in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department. At least 11 people were killed, according to announcements from the local prefecture and confirmed by Le Monde and El País.
