Kuwait Accuses Iran of Island Infiltration

In a sharp escalation of Gulf tensions, Kuwait has accused Iran of attempting to infiltrate its largest island, Bubiyan, located at the northern edge of the Persian Gulf near the Iraqi border. According to Kuwait’s Interior Ministry, four men suspected of belonging to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps were arrested after attempting to enter the country by sea. During the incident, the suspects allegedly clashed with security forces, wounding a Kuwaiti soldier.

Bubiyan Island is considered strategically important due to its proximity to major shipping routes, northern oilfields, and a US military base. The incident adds yet another layer of instability to a region already roiled by the broader Iran conflict — the same war that prompted flydubai to suspend flights to Islamabad, Lahore, and Peshawar through October, citing “operational issues” linked to airspace disruptions that began shortly after hostilities commenced.
